Wishing You Peace in the New Year
Most of us have items that we treasure, some we have carried with us for many years. One of mine is a copy of Desiderata. Some time back in the sixties when I was in college I discovered this poem and the words quickly found their way into my heart and soul. They speak melodically of some of life’s universal truths. Offering direction and encouragement without dogma or judgment the author is able to circumvent most belief systems rendering his message relevant and digestible to almost everyone, regardless of where we are in our spiritual journey. Fifty years later they still speak to me and I would like to share them here for you to read again or for the very first time. May they speak to your heart and help usher in a peaceful New Year. Thank you so much for this. Of course I’ve seen it, probably back in the 60’s as well. It resonates even more now than it did then. Ah, if I had this in the front of my mind for all these years…. I’m very grateful for it now.

I’m glad to know that you had a ‘good experience’ with “Desiderata,” too. A patient gave me a signed copy shortly before she died. Not only is it a keepsake in memory off her, but it reminds me, like you say of universal truths, trials and tribulations, thre and that we’re all on this planet together. I love the poem. If the author wrote more, I don’t know about them. But to write like that, he had to be good and capture the essence of so much.

I used to have Desiderata on a huge poster of a waterfall where I saw it everyday … and now I’m very much inspired to have it somewhere prominent, once again. Thank you for the reminder. Such beautiful words that deliver sound advice so gently. Happy New Year to You. Gee.
